Nan,
What a life you had! From the inspiration of your incredible past, the stories from the war and all the incredible things you have done.
It has been a privilege to have known you. I feel ever so lucky to have got to basically live together for so many years, I can only ever remember you living with us for my childhood, and up until 26 before I moved out.
We had so many hilarious moments together, so many pranks, laughs, giggles and embarrassing kisses on the forehead! You always spoke the truth, rightly or wrongly but that is why I absolutely adore you, and you have inspired me to be more open and be more like you, a true inspiration!
From the tipple of cider (not apple juice!) that made you giddy, the snowballs I threw at your window (followed by the ‘I’ll get you’ comments), the funny glances we had when we were winding each other up to opening up about your past forces years! It was an honour to have spent so many beautiful moments together that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
I will live my life like you Nan, with that cheeky smile and wonderful wit that just always made me smile.
Love, forever and always, your grandson Stuart & Lauren

Nanny Hazel,
I miss you already and now that you’re no longer here
I know I will miss your laughter and cheer
My heart it aches now that you’ve gone
Realising I can’t visit or call you on the phone
The only thing that puts my pain at ease
Is knowing no more suffering from that cruel disease
This and that fact you are now at peace
With Joyce, your mum and my Grandad too
And those that you loved that have passed before you.
I’ll miss the way you just said what’s what
- Straight to the point is what we all got.
I am, we all are very proud of your life
You’ve been brave and have coped with troubles and strife
I promise to but expect that you already know
I , we will all find it hard to let go
I will never forget – you’ll be remembered by all
